Abstract

Hlaing river near Yangon city is one of distributes of the Ayeyarwady river in Myanmar. In the river, the problems of various water discharged manner from industrial zones are the most important things to protect water quality and water environment. Most of wastewater and residues without any treatment system from the industrial zones are discharged into the rivers or urban creeks directly and illegally. Population density increases significantly due to the development of industrial zones and housing projects. Therefore, these are being the adverse impacts to the environment and human, and it needs to investigate the effects from different pollutant sources in the river. From this investigation, the governmentcan promote the water quality management in the river that includes pollution control activities as well as pollution prevention activities.
