Abstract
Law and science have been closely interwound, in particular in the ocean. Advancement of scientific knowledge have been a driving force for creating new markets. The new markets called for replacing the old regime which did not fit the new market. For examples, freedom of high seas was smelted while the new trade market was forming. In this context, the history of ocean governance in East Asia as well as Indo Pacific can be construed.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), we are living through the era when new markets emerge at an unprecedent speed. The emerging new markets are constantly demanding new legal regimes. In this presentation, I would like to introduce a part of interplay between science and law and between new market and the new regime.
