Abstract
The Yellow Sea Partnership is a loose, voluntary network of organizations/individuals pursuing a common goal of Yellow Sea Conservation and Wise-use. It is targeting various levels of stakeholders including scientific and academic community and facilitates cooperation among the partners that will bring potential synergic impact than that of individual actions. The Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute (KORDI) is currently the only scientific research organization in the Yellow Sea Partnership. Through the Partnership, it pursues two goals. First, KORDI aims to play a role for raising public awareness of Yellow Sea in scientific community. Second, KORDI wants to reach general public through other partners and contribute its capacities to promote public participation in marine conservation activities. KORDI joined the Partnership at the First Yellow Sea Partnership Workshop held in March 2006 and co-organized the First Korean NGO Yellow Sea Partnership Workshop as well as providing technical assistance to a Korean NGO to apply for a grant project, thereby to officially participate to the Yellow Sea Project.
