Abstract
- Korea and Japan are located in the north-eastern Asia. Asian monsoon climate has effected on the life style of the people. The way to utilize natural resources and to coexist the nature corresponds to the culture in ordinary peoples’ daily life. In modernization, coastal environmental problems have occurred, and their reasons and mechanisms must be similar to Asian social context. Comparative study on Korea and Japan is considered to be fruitful to understand each other, and share the knowledge and wisdom to manage the nature of Asia. Preliminary study has begun to find out each coastal zone’s traditional and cultural activities in spring for two years. Traditional recreations show the possibility to function as coastal conservation. In this presentation, some representative activities are discussed in comparative view.
