Abstract
Four sediment types by Folk's grain-size classification (1968 are widely used by many previous workers. The application of sediment types in the marine environments by Folk’s method has limitation. Therefore, new classification of grain-sizes in the marine environments is necessary to develop. For the first time, the author started to develop the detailed method of grain-sizes (Yi, 2000). This new method is still necessary to revise and develop to be used for all marine environments. The eighteen sediment types are identified in this new method. They are: 1) clay, 2) silty clay, 3) silt-clay, 4) clayey silt, 5) sandy-silty clay, 6) sandy silty clay, 7) silty sandy clay, 8) sandy silt-clay, 9) sandy clayey silt, 10) clayey-sandy silt, 11) silty clay-sand, 12) clayey sandy silt, 13) silty clayey sand 14) silty-clayey sand, 15) clayey silt-sand, 16) clayey silty sand, 17) silty sand, and 18) sand.
