Abstract
- Psammaplysins, known to exhibit potent antimalarial activities, are nonterpenoid secondary metabolites derived from bromotyrosine. In the course of our search for bioactive substances from the tropical marine sponges, eight known bromotyrosines (x psammaplysin analogs) and four new bromotyrosines (x psammaplysin analogs) have been isolated. Investigations of antimalarial activities of isolated compounds are in progress.
