Abstract
In western coastal waters of Korea, Abnormal long waves occur often on spring. For example strange extreme long waves suddenly occur without notice at Jeju on February, 2005, at Youngkwang on May, 2005 and at Boryeong on March, 2008. The cause of abnormal long wave is probably ‘meteotsunami’that is generated by atmospheric pressure changes (Choi and Lee, 2009; Choi et al., 2008; Oh, 2009). Most of abnormal long waves are detected on observation devices such as pressure sensors or tide gages. However there is no signals except very limited area of Boryeong include video data from CCTV at local area, possibly because of local case. So in this study, local abnormal long waves of Boryeong will be simulated with numerical model.e cause of abnormal long wave is probably ‘meteotsunami’ that is generated by atmospheric pressure changes (Choi and Lee, 2009; Choi et al., 2008; Oh, 2009).
