As the water depth and the turbine capacity of offshore wind farms are increasing, the construction cost of substructures and foundations for offshore wind turbines is expected to increase. The investigation on suction bucket foundation as foundation of offshore wind turbines is being carried out in Europe and other countries. In this study, a model testing apparatus for simulating the field installation method of bucket foundation was designed and manufactured. A series of penetration test of model bucket were performed in laboratory. Laboratory model test results show that suction pressure increased with the increase of the penetration depth of model bucket. as foundation of offshore wind turbines is being carried out in Europe and other countries.
