Abstract
The interest in suction bucket foundation is quickly increasing as an efficient alternative to the conventional foundation in offshore wind energy farm with deep sea condition. The bucket foundation is penetrated into the soil by pumping water out of internal compartment after completion of self-weight penentration step, and its construction generally does not require heavy equipment. The surface layers of many area in the western sea and the southern sea in Korea consist of mainly coarse-grained soil. This study presents the penetration behavior of suction bucket foundation in sand with various mean size and permeability.ter out of internal compartment after completion of self-weight penentration step, and its construction generally does not require heavy equipment.
