Abstract
- Typhoon Chaba (1618) was the strongest tropical cyclone in October to make landfall in South Korea that form on Sep 24, 2016 and dissipated Oct 7. The Chaba intensified to Category 5 super typhoon intensity with 10-minute sustained winds of 60 m s-1, 1-minute sustained winds of 75 m s-1, and a minimum central pressure of 905 hPa on October 3 due to very warm sea surface temperature. In this study, life cycle of typhoon Chaba was simulated using two different modeling systems of Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) mesoscale model. We use the Advanced Research version of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF-ARW) model and Hurricane WRF(HWRF). 60 m s-1, 1-minute sustained winds of 75 m s-1, and a minimum central pressure of 905 hPa on October 3 due to very warm sea surface temperature.
