Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the comparative analysis between biomass and FAMEs production of Tetraselmis sp. YH under the different culture conditions during September 2016 and 2017. The following culture experimental designs were used to evaluate the effects of different regimes of CO2 and salinity. Tetraselmis sp. YH were inoculated in modified CO2-free f/2 medium (34 psu) in 2016, and modified CO2-fed f/2 medium (CO2 flow rate : 2% 0.1 vvm, 75 psu) in 2017, respectively. The experiments were carried out for 21-days in 4×20 ton-scaled open raceway pond culture system. After harvesting, biomass production and FAMEs compositions were analyzed using AOAC and GC/MS methods, respectively [1, 2]. In the first-year experiment, biomass production of Tetraselmis sp. was estimated 0.78±0.02 g/L (26.00 g/m2/d). Especially the total FAMEs production was recorded low level (12.00 mg/g) in 2016. In contrast, biomass production of Tetraselmis sp. was estimated 1.30±0.06 g/L (43.3 g/m2/d). In 2017, production of FAMEs was higher (29.48 mg/g) than that of experiment in 2016. Furthermore, total lipid production in 2017 was higher (16.7%) than that (14.3%) of first experiment in 2016. This study was revealed that Tetraselmis sp. under the modified CO2-fed f/2 medium with high salinity was increased the biomass and FAMEs production in 80 ton-scaled open raceway pond culture system in Yeongheung Island.ed to evaluate the effects of different regimes of CO2 and salinity.
