Abstract
Geostationary Ocean Color Imager-II (GOCI-II) is a sensor that observes ocean color in Northeast Asian and the entire disk of the Earth. In this study, we aimed to improve the atmospheric correction algorithm, an important step in satellite-based ocean color data, by analyzing cross-calibration results on the GOCI-II near-infrared (NIR) band using the GOCI NIR band. We studied on the top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiance of the NIR band, and vicarious calibration coefficients were derived as a result. Although there was a limit to the short overlap operation period of GOCI and GOCI-II, we expect further improvements in future capabilities through continued cross-calibration studies with other satellites. Additionally, to assess the impact of this result on the accuracy of the ocean color products, it is essential to apply the vicarious calibration gains derived for the NIR band in this study.
