Abstract
Agar,acompoundfoundinseveralspeciesofredseaweed,iswidelyemployedindiverseindustries.Notably,oligosaccharidesderivedfromagarpossessvaluablebiologicalandtherapeuticproperties.Inthisresearch,gaa16bgeneobtainedfromthemarinebacteriumGilvimarinusagarilyticusJEA5wasdiscoveredtoencodeanovelβ-agaroseenzyme.Thegaa16bgenewasclonedandexpressedasarecombinantproteininE.coliBL21(DE3).Theresultingprotein,taggedwithmaltose-bindingprotein(MBP),waspurifiedandanalyzedtoexploreitsbiochemicalpropertiesandhydrolyticpatterns.Furthermore,ahyaluronidaseinhibitoryassaywasconductedtoevaluatethepotentialofthepartiallyhydrolyzedproduct(PHP)ofrecombinantGaa16B(rGaa16B)forcosmeticapplications.
