Abstract
Secondary metabolites from marine organisms have been acknowledged as an important source for exploring lead compounds with structural diversities and potent bioactivities. Particularly, marine actinobacteria have received notable attention as they produce various kinds of secondary metabolites with unusual structures and intensive biological activities such as anti-bacterial, anti-tumor, and anti-inflammatory activities. During our ongoing research for new secondary metabolites from marine microorganisms, we isolated a Streptomyces griseorubens 2210JJ-087 strain from a sediment sample collected at Jeju Island, South Korea. Four diterpenoid derivatives were isolated from the crude extract of the culture broth of the strain. The structures of the diterpenoids were determined by analyses of their MS and NMR spectroscopic data and these compounds were evaluated for their anti-bacterial activities.
