Abstract
Inflammatory diseases caused by air pollution, especially originating from exposure to particulate matter (PM), have increased. Accordingly, attention to treatments for these inflammatory diseases has grown. Natural products have been recognized as a promising source in the treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases historically. As part of our ongoing study to discover bioactive compounds from marine microorganisms, we found a new indanone derivative exhibiting an inhibitory effect of fine-dust-induced inflammation from Streptomyces massiliensis obtained from a sediment sample. Here, we report the isolation and mass culture of the strain, purification, and structure determination of the active compounds, and their inhibitory activity against fine-dust-induced inflammation.
