Abstract
- Natural products and their derivatives have historically been a major source of drug leads and therapeutic agents. In particular, marine natural products (MNPs) have demonstrated exceptional potency and potential as anticancer therapeutics. Marine sources are vital for obtaining essential drugs against infectious diseases. Especially, Marine microorganisms have attracted considerable attention due to the structural diversities and unique biological activities of their secondary metabolites. Thus, the screening of marine microbial natural products continues to represent an important route to the discovery of novel bioactive compounds for the development of new therapeutic agents.
In our ongoing research on the biomedical potential of marine microorganisms, we have isolated lots of novel bioactive econdary metabolites from marine-derived microorganisms.
The isolation, structure determination, and bioactivities of novel compounds from marine microorganisms will be presented.
