dc.description.abstract Diatoms are a major target for marine ecosystem research, including coastal ecosystem change studies and primary producer monitoring. In particular, benthic diatoms are a very important group for the primary production of tidal flats on the west coast of Korea, but basic ecological studies such as diversity and community structure variability are insufficient. The purpose of this study is to investigate the monthly volatility of benthic diatom community structure in the tidal flats near Taean, Chungnam. To this end, a monthly (2017-present two station) tidal-core sample was secured and a total of 58 eDNAs were extracted. Among these, various molecular markers such as the plastid gene rbcL, the mitochondrial gene cob, and nad5 are selected and examined to identify benthic diatoms. In this study, amplicon sequencing using the Illumina MiSeq platform is underway. The new mitochondrial molecular marker data for benthic diatom community variability will be compared with existing nuclear 18S rRNA and plastid (An et al. 2017, 2018) results. -
