Abstract
Korean tidal flat 'Getbol' along the Yellow sea coast was registered as a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site on July 26, 2021. Effective monitoring methods are needed to manage these tidal flats. Existing tidal topography research is conducted periodically for 1 to 5 years using aircraft-based optics or LiDAR sensors. However, it is difficult to detect changes in the topography of tidal flats through periodic surveys because tidal flats are constantly changing due to climate change, sea level rise, typhoons, and artificial construction. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the topographic changes in near real-time using satellite images. Using data from the Sentinel and Landsat satellite series with different temporal resolutions from Gochang tidal flat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Hwangdo of the West sea of Korea, images of tidal flats at various tide levels were extracted for a short period of time. Since each satellite has a different spatial resolution, it is necessary to verify the accuracy of low-resolution satellite data. To verify this, we compared it with satellite data using ground truth data of UAV-LiDAR with a spatial resolution of 50 cm.
