Abstract
National and regional government in Korea are conducting radioactivity tests to confirm whether radioactive
materials are accumulated on seafood more than the amount regulated by law (i.e., 100 Bq/kg). The current inspection method
using an HPGe detector has a limitation in that rapid inspection cannot be performed because of a time-consuming
pretreatment process as well as long measurement time. To overcome this limitation, we are developing an in-situ inspection
system, as a screening system, that can monitor radioactivity in seafood in a near real-time basis. In this study, to verify the
Monte Carlo simulation model of this inspection system, we compared the energy spectrum of the Cs-137 check source
obtained by experiments with the simulation results using the MCNP code. It was found that the measured and simulated
energy spectrum were in good agreement less than 4% difference.
