Abstract
Two marine cyrtophorid ciliates were collected from the tidal pools in Pusan and Yeosu, respectively. These species were investigated based on live observation and protargol impregnation. The results confirmed that the two species are new to South Korea. Based on the cell morphometry and infraciliature, these ciliate species were described here and they are as follows: Pseudochilodonopsis marina Song, 1991, Dysteria pectinata (Nowlin, 1913) Kahl, 1931. Diagnostics of these species are as follows. Pseudochilodonopsis marina: Body size in vivo about 50 × 35 ㎛ bean in shape two contractile vacuoles 10-15 nematodesmal rods seven left and five right kineties five fragmented preoral kiteties macronuclear nodule about 15 × 12 ㎛. Dysteria pectinata: Body size in vivo about 65 × 35 ㎛ oval in shape two contractile vacuoles podite posteriorly located seven right kineties including two frontoventrals and short inner row macronuclear nodule about 25 × 12 ㎛ ectosymbiotic bacteria lacking. In addition, morphological variations of these species populations are discussedo South Korea.
