Abstract
Over the last 30 years, Jeju island experienced most rapidly progress in global warming. Due to the high exposure from a variety of marine pollution sources has advanced serious eutrophication, research is needed in overall change of marine environment including the marine ecosystems in Jeju island. For sustainable conservation in coastal water of Jeju island, short term and temporary research should not be considered. Long term analysis is required and the systematic and comprehensive data collection is needed. Values of biological resources that live in the around of Jeju island must be recognized to ensure the developed countries and the competitiveness overseas. Conservation of the marine ecosystem resource, and it requires various efforts to ensure the bio diversity.
A study on the meiofauna in the subtidal zone of the northeastern part of Jeju Island was conducted to understand the changes of marine ecosystem due to environmental pollution. Another study was conducted on the intertidal zone of Jeju Island and the survey of intertidal zone was conducted at 20 stations. In order to identify ecosystem change, we obtained samples of meiofauna in the study area and analyzed themeiofaunal communities. Statistical analysis was performed to identify the differences of the meiofaunal communities in each survey station and time. environment including the marine ecosystems in Jeju island.
