Abstract
- Min, B.I., Kim, K.O., Lee, H.S., Yuk, J.-H. and Choi, B.H., 2011. Disturbances in tidal and sedimentation regimes at Saemangeum due to a dike. Journal of Coastal Research, SI 64 (Proceedings of the 11th International Coastal Symposium), 576 - 580. Szczecin, Poland, ISSN 0749-0208 Numerical simulations of tide and tidal current for the effect of Saemangeum dike were carried out using a high-resolution Regional Ocean Tide Simulator (ROTIS). This model studied the impacts of large coastal developments, specifically long tidal dikes, on the tide, tidal current and sedimentation regimes of the Yellow Sea shelf. Also, the physical parameters, bottom stress and tidal energy dissipation, were derived from tide and tidal current fields to estimate the sedimentary environment in this region. The study describing changes in the tide, tidal currents, tidal residual circulation, mean and peak bottom stresses and tidal energy dissipation after dike construction are presented and discussed.
