Abstract
- The Asian summer monsoon has three sub-monsoon systems, which are South Asian, East Asian, and Western North Pacific (WNP) summer monsoons. In particular, The Northern part of the East Asian summer monsoon is largely affected by the WNP summer monsoon via atmospheric teleconnection. The Rossby-type response induced by the WNP summer monsoon variability can be modulated by the spatial pattern of the ENSO. This study suggests that the WNP pattern is constructive or destructive with the Eurasian patterns as well as the ENSO-induced pattern. The spatial structure of the Eurasian pattern may be influenced by the decaying speed of El Nino. This study also discusses the role of the convective forcing in the Atlantic Ocean using a linear baroclinic model.
