Abstract
- Diversity of culturable bacteria from the early phase of biofilm formed on acrylic surface was investigated. Acrylic surfaces were emerged in near shore seawater at Kangreung, Pohang, Yeosu and Incheon Harbor for 3 days. Bacterial isolates were obtained using ZoBell 2216e medium. Partial sequences of 16S rDNA (300 to 500 bps) from 65 isolates were analyzed. The sequences showed higher similarities to previously reported sequences in GenBank database (higher than 91.7%). Most of the isolates were assigned to 25 known species which were widespread in marine environment. Among the isolates, five were reported previously uncultured in GeneBank database. The bacterial composition of early phase biofilm showed geographical variation. [Supported by NRL Program]
