The near-field sediment concentration suspended due to dredging operation has been predicted by using D-CORMIX model. The sediment plumes at Gunsan Port dredging site were surveyed and the suspended sediment characteristics were also analyzed. Using the field surveyed input data, the model was simulated to predict the dispersion of sediment plumes in the near-field of the dredging site. The predicted results were compared with the measured concentrations of sediment plumes at two different locations, i.e. at 10m and 150m downstream distances from the dredging point. The results shows a good agreement with the shape of sediment plumes and suspended concentrations in the near-field of dredging site.
