dc.description.abstract Sea-level changes due to storm surge and tide along the Korean coast have been obtained using a fine-scaled coastal model. The offshore boundary conditions were calculated from a large-scaled model covering the Northeast Asian Seas. The long-term data of severe storm surges were obtained by the model simulations for the 76 cases of typhoons in 47 years and for the 123 cases of extra-tropical cyclones in 20 years. Extreme sea-levels with return periods were estimated by the statistical analysis. The results show that the higher sea-levels in the Korean coast were occurred due to positive surges for typhoon passages while the lower sea-levels with negative surges were more dominantly caused by extra-tropical cyclones. -
