dc.description.abstract | Typhoon 0314(Maemi) caused a severe storm surge on the southern coast of Korea, especially in Masan-Jinhae Bay. The tide gage in Masan Port recorded the maximum surge height of ~2.3m which is a record of the extreme surge height for the last 100 years since the opening of Masan port. In order to obtain the maximum surge height for the design of storm-surge defence structures on the Masan Coast, the storm surge caused by typhoon \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Maemi\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' was hindcasted using a fine-scaled regional model. The hindcasted surge heights were compared with the observations. The result shows that they are in a good agreement with the observed storm-surge heights. | - |
