Abstract
An internet information system is established in 2002 and started its service to provide several oceanographic data and meteorological data to user community in real-time mode. A data acquisition system using PCS wireless network and internet TCP/IP protocol is designed to meet the requirement of time synchronized, multi-site, real-time acquisition in ocean observation. This system use wireless internet data technology based on 1.8MHz band carrier and supported by wireless data service of LG Telecom and SK Telecom based on CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) technology. Real-time data observed at several stations around Korean peninsula are transmitted to the data acquisition system of KORDI, quality controlled, and stored at real-time DB using Oracle DBMS by the automated data processing. Until the end of 2004, real-time data of 16 oceanographic and meteorological data items at 14 stations are accessible through the internet data service. (http://realtime.kordi.re.kr)
