dc.description.abstract The contents of remained solid in excess sludge treated by hydrothermal reaction and their reusing possibility were investigated in this research. Besides, hydrothermal reaction coupled with conventional biological treatment method was also considered for the control of excess sludge. Two kinds of excess sludge obtained from a local food factory and a municipal wastewater treatment process were selected and then tested under various conditions. In the two cases, the trend of content change in treated excess sludge did not much vary. Biodegradable substrate in treated excess sludge increased depending on reaction conditions. Separated remained solid were composite material which was composed of organic and inorganic materials. The portion of organic materials was around 40%. A little of hazardous materials such as Hg or Pb were detected in remained solid. SiO2 (Quartz) was one of dominant contents in remained solid. The results of X-ray diffraction implied that remained solid were composed of some of amorphous state. For the two reasons, remained solid could be easily converted to stable substances such as construction materials throughout following stabilization process. Hydrothermal reaction coupled with conventional biological treatment process could be successfully used to control excess sludge and reuse. -
