dc.description.abstract Ocean covers more than three-quarters of the earth's surface and it affects human life in many ways directly or indirectly. Deep sea comprises as much as 90% of ocean in volume, supplying reservoirs of important natural resources and unique genetic information for possible development but the research on the deep sea environment has been limited to date because of the adverse circumstances to the research. However, the recent advance on the state-of-art technology for cruising the deep sea environment such as AUV, ROV and manned-submersible facilitated the deep sea biotechnology, and is getting much attention on the development of unexploited bioresources. -
