Abstract
Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, a strain named MRN461T isolated from marine animal inhabited in Micronesia showed high similarity with an invalidly reported strain “Microscilla furvescens”. According to a phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, it has reported that the genus Microscilla displaying extreme heterogeneity and the phylogenetic position of ‘M. furvescens’ is very remote from type species of the genus Microscilla. Therefore, strain MRN461T with “M. furvescens” should be classified as a genus level. Cells of strain MRN461T are Gram-negative, motile by gliding and rod-shaped. Growth was observed between 15 and 40℃ (optimum 33℃), at pH 5.0-9.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and in the presence of 0.5-7.0% NaCl (optimum 2.5%). The major isoprenoid quinone is MK-7. The DNA G+C content is 41.5mol%. The major fatty acids are iso16:1(19.8%), 16:1w5c(21.6%) and SF3 (34.8%). Based on the polyphasic taxonomical result and 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses, a novel genus Mariniscilla with two novel species, Mariniscilla pacifica sp. nov. (type strain MRN461T = KCCM 42325T = JCM 14064T) and Mariniscilla furvescens nom. rev., comb. nov. (type strain DSM0000T = ATCC 23129T = IFO 15994T) are proposed.
