In order to identify distribution characteristics of heavy metals, surface seawaters were collected in the adjacent sea to Dokdo during 2 cruises undertaken by R/V Eardo(Nov.-Dec. 2006) and Onnuri(Mar. 2007). Distribution of dissolved metal concentrations in surface seawaters are largely varied with space and time. Concentrations of metals except for Cd were lower than those of this area in 1999~2000. Distribution of particulate metal in this area were affected by detrital minerals originated from Dokdo. Dissolved metal/total metals ratios for Co, Ni, Cu, Cd, Pb during 2 cruises are higher than 80%. Fe/Al rations in SPM ranged from 0.22 to 1.46(Average 0.46) in 2006 and 0.44 to 3.48(Average 0.88) in 2007, respectively. Variation and average in 2006 were similar to those of Dokdo volcanic rocks(Range 0.25~1.03, Average 0.49).
