Abstract
The production of phytoplankton in affected by various factors such as physical and chemical parameter; however, the most critical factor for controlling primary production of phytoplankton is the nutrient. Recently, the property of nutrient (limitation and ratio) could take part in the succession of phytoplankton group and species. For understanding the distribution property of the main dominant phytoplankton, we investigated relationship with the succession of the dominant phytoplankton and nutrient property in Jangmok Bay during summer season of 2004 and 2006. The distribution of nutrient on the upper layer in the active growth of phytoplankton may be mainly controlled the direct and/or indirect effect of rainfall, and the wind stress related with water mixing on the migration the re-generalized nutrient on the bottom. These parameter could be have the different pattern each year, because of the frequency and strength in rainfall and, the difference of wind stress and direction, especially typhoon. S. costatum show mainly predominance when the rich phosphate and ammonia was supplied by the strong wind stress, and also supplied silicate and nitrate by heavy rainfall. Nitzschia spp. showed mainly predominance in the rich nitrate and silicate by heavy rainfall but in the restrictive phosphate because of a weak strength of wind. Chaetoceros spp. showed mainly predominance in the weak nutrient, especially silicate. In costal ecosystem, the supplied pattern of each nutrient by the different pattern of the rainfall and the strength of wind stress will play an important role in the succession of phytoplankton assemblage.
