한국 동해연안의 지질학적 특성

Abstract

Coastal bathymetry and geological surveys have been conducted at the HujeongBeach in front of the East Sea Research Institute (ESRI) of KORDI, located on East Sea of Korea since2008. Multi-beam bathymetry and sub-bottom profiler data collected in 2009 indicate that there isinsignificant change compared to the 2008 data in morphology and mobile sand layer thickness at the outershoreface zone with a water depth range of 5m to 10m. Recently, this study newly collected single-beamand multi-beam bathymetry data and seabed images at the shallow depth area less than 5m and has beenexamining the sand exchange processes between the subaqueous shoreface and subaerial beach,topography data of where were collected by using a terrestrial LiDAR system. Especially, time-series dataof the precise 3-D topography of the study site have been used to examine the swash opening event, whichoccurs commonly along the east coast due to heavy rains during the Korean wet season, and its closingprocess. In further study coastal topobathy changes and sand transport processes will be analyzed bycombining with physical process data of wind, wave and tide.
