dc.description.abstract Terrestrial LiDAR system is known to collect a wide range (several hundred meters to2 kilometers in distance) of topography data with several millimeters of accuracy by scanning horizontallyand vertically in a short period of time. Due to its characteristics of measuring distances by calculatingreflecting time of laser beams it is difficult to acquire reliable data in the cases of areas covered bymediums with low reflection intensity. This study examined the data acquisition capability of the RIEGLLMS-Z420i LiDAR system under a variety of circumstances such as scanning distance range, spatialscanning density, topographic characteristics and medium characteristics of target areas. Especially, thisstudy has been testing the system for different medium conditions with a range of dry to 5 mm in watercovering thickness over it under different lightening conditions in order to examine its usability in intertidalflat areas. Objective of this study is to develop an accurate and effective beach survey system formonitoring the topographic changes. -
