The chub mackerel Scomber japonicus eggs and larvae were collected by the plankton net, in June 2008 and in July 2009 off Eochung-Do of Korea, in the mid-east Yellow Sea. The correctness of identification on the S. japonicus eggs and larvae was verified using the partial ND5 mtDNA, which differentiat S. japonicus from the other three species in genus Scomber. The occurrence of S. japonicus eggs and larvae in the Yellow Sea were confirmed using the ND5 mtDNA marker. This is the first finding the S. japonicus eggs in the Yellow Sea. It seems to be that the spawning ground of S. japonicus could be expanded into the Yellow Sea in the Northwestern Pacific.
