dc.description.abstract Mineral oils is the most serious contaminants in the marine environment when the accidents involving ships at sea, therefore, the level of mineral oil contamination is of paramount importance. Mineral oil contents in seawater are currently determined using a gravimetric method in the Korean Marine Environmental Test Methods (KMTM). We will report the inherent analytical uncertainties associated with the current KMTM method and we will propose a more robust analytical method comprising sampling, clean-up steps, selection of surrogates, and instrument condition of GC-MSD -
