Abstract
Jellyfish exponentially increasing were caused by global warming and environment change.Mass propagation of a jellyfish is giving a lot of damage to the economy in worldwide. Therefore, to instantly determine the possible kinds of jellyfish that DNA barcode data analysis using molecular markers. DNA chip technology is an efficient method for species-level identification and, as such, will contribute powerfully to taxonomic and biodiversity research. To identify jellyfish species, the mitochondrial COI gene, which have been found to be widely applicable in animal barcoding, selected species specific probe was 23bp and were printed onto silylated slides using a robotic microarrayer. Also, COI genes were amplified from genomic DNA of jellyfish using primers LCO1490 and HCO2198 targeted to COI. In this study, we amplified and analyzed species-specific COI sequences for six jellyfish species (Aequorea coerulescens, Aurelia aurita, Bolinopsis sp., Cyanea nozakii, Dactylometra quinquecirrha, Nemopilema nomurai) collected from Jangmok bay in Geoje. We show that each of the jellyfish species detected using microarray analysis. As a result, The COI barcode sequence was found to be suitable for the identification of jellyfish from South Korea.
