Abstract
Marine microorganisms have been recognized as a new source for the production of bioactive secondary metabolites. To search for new bioactive marine natural products, we have focused considerable attention on the marine microorganisms. Nowadays multidrug resistant pathogens are emerging day by day. So new antimicrobials discovery has become a pressing need. In response to this, rational strategies to maximize the chemical diversity obtained from each microbial species during fermentation and biological screening are most important to discover novel/new bioactive metabolites. We present here the discovery of new antimicrobial macrolatins (1-4), 24-membered macrolactones from a marine-derived Bacillus sp. The isolation, structure determination, and antimicrobial activity of the compounds will be presented.
