dc.description.abstract In the present article, we introduce the current status of Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) launched in 2010 and give some examples of its applications such as sea ice monitoring, sea fog detection and atmospheric phenomena. In addition, the activities of ocean satellite remote sensing for the operational forecasting system are shown, especially on 1) production design of high-resolution sea surface temperature (SST), 2) operational oil spill detection, and 3) maritime surveillance. -
