Abstract
Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) has been operated for 2.5 years since it was launched in June 2010, which is the world’s first ocean color satellite in geostationary orbit. The GOCI has a CMOS Image sensor and observes the north-east Asia area divided into 16 areas using the 2D frame capture. The data has been distributed to users from April 2011. We investigated and analyzed the defective pixel to assess the GOCI performance during the normal operation. They have an increasing trend for 2 years. But the defective pixels in normal operation are only about 0.0098% of whole pixels in the image. We also find that some images have appreciable number of defective pixel due to solar activity, instrument error, human error, etc. But they have not been reoccurred for the last year.h-east Asia area divided into 16 areas using the 2D frame capture.
