dc.description.abstract | The Han Estuary, situated on the North Limit Line (NNL) dividing North and South Korea, has been restricted for entrance for over 55 years, and therefore, the estuary is considered to have retained its rich ecological value. However, for the same reason, little information on itsenvironment is available to date. The purpose of our study is to investigate the bar morphology in this inaccessible Han Estuary using multi-temporal spaceborne optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquired from the year 2000 to 2009, and the present paper is its summary. Some variation in shape and size of bars depending on the location, caused by tide and precipitation, were observed; and based on the changes of the bar-water boundary, an effective topographical map was produced, showing the relative height of bars. These results are expected to constitute the basis of future morphological and ecological studies in this important estuary.r the same reason, little information on itsenvironment is available to date.
