Abstract
A novel measurement method was designed to compare differences of marine environments between areas in the sea. Its similarity coefficient was derived by finding the probability density function of marine environmental factors for each sea area to compute overlapped areas of the respective standard normal distributions. To apply this method experimentally, Chlorophyll a data monitored in 8 bays of Koreas southern coast was used to measure marine environmental similarity between the bays.area to compute overlapped areas of the respective standard normal distributions.
