Abstract
- In this paper, we present a case study of KVS observed in the lee side of the Jeju Island using successional GOCI images and their characteristics are analyzed by the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model which is designed to simulate and predict mesoscale atmospheric variations. GOCI images which include the modified cloud structure by KVS were acquired. KVS at the GOCI data acquisition times were simulated by the WRF model with NCEP (National Centers for Environment Prediction) 6-hourly Final Analyses (FNL) data. The characteristic values, including the ratio of the spacing of vortices to the width of the street, propagation speed, and the ratio of the average speed of KVS to the average current speed outside KVS, were calculated from successional GOCI images, and these values were compared with the simulation results.e and predict mesoscale atmospheric variations.
