dc.description.abstract This study is based on a series of threedimensional numerical modeling experiments tounderstand the extreme tsunami run-up atMonai valley in Okushiri island, west sea ofJapan caused by the 1993 Hokkaido Nansei-Okiearthquake. The analysis was performed for theextreme run-up height and field observationdata using the run-up height for verification ofmodeling experimental results. As a result, incase of the two island present condition ? realtopography ? extreme run-up height reached toabout 32m (31.7m by observed), so numericalmodel experiment results can be said to be ingood agreement with the observed extremerun-up height. -
