dc.description.abstract Sea fog disturbs ship traffic, and may cause accidents due to low visibility in the coastal regions and over oceans. In the Yellow Sea, thick fog often appears during the spring season from April to July. Data on sea fog can be useful information for the safety of ship traffic. This study introduces the temporal and spatial changes of sea fog distribution over the coverage of GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) which acquires 8-channel multispectral images on hourly basis over a 2500 km2 area with 500 m resolution. We selected sea fog areas as the ROI (Region of Interest) in the GOCI coverage and investigated the statistics of sea fog distributionmation for the safety of ship traffic.
