Abstract
Upwelling cold water (UCW) in coastal waters refers to areas whose average temperature is 5°C colder than other areas. When UCW expands or changes of size, direction. NFRDI(National Fisheries Research & Development Institute) issues an upwelling cold water warming. The appearing season mainly starts at the end of June, temporarily repeats the cycle of creation and extinction, and disappeared at the end of August. This UCW can damage fisheries and fisheries management. So it is important to reduce the damage by measuring the flow and the transition of UCW.In this study, through the analysis of various environmental factors using satellite data and in situ data, we investigate the cause of UWC occurrence, and analyze temporal and spatial variations of UWC. The period of the study is summer in 2012~ 2013, and the area of study is the East Sea. Also, because fog occurs frequently in this UCW period, we try to find occurrence of fog, through satellite image analysiselling cold water warming.
