Abstract
- Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) data has been operated successfully for more than 3.5 years since its launch in June, 2010. Various modifications have been made in atmospheric correction and other algorithms to secure good quality of GOCI’s radiometric and ocean color products. In this presentation, we provide validation results of GOCI’s ocean color products (remote sensing reflectance (Rrs)), by comparing GOCI data accumulated over 3.5 years to in-situ measurements collected from multiple field-campaigns as well as with MODIS level 2 data. First, correlation analysis was performed between GOCI/MODIS and in-situ data to investigate the relative accuracy and differences in scatter patterns. Secondly, chlorophyll-a concentration data of GOCI and MODIS-Aqua are compared for selected dates. Both GOCI and MODIS images are co-registered by transforming to the geographic coordinate and scatter plots are generated using the matched pairs.f GOCI’s radiometric and ocean color products.
