Abstract
The Changjiang Diluted Water is one of the most important water mass in the surface layer of the Yellow and East China Sea in summertime. Low-salinity water originating from the CDW is often observed in the northwest area of Jeju Island and the south part of the Yellow Sea, and sometimes gives a huge damage to fisheries resources of coastal areas. In general, it is known that the Changjiang Diluted Water is extended to northeastward from the mouth of the Changjiang River and moved toward the Jeju Island in a patch form, and one of the factors that move is a wind. In August 2012, a low-salinity water mass, believed to be the Changjiang Diluted Water, was observed in the central region of the Yellow Sea. The water distributions of surface layer in the Yellow Sea show that this low-salinity water mass is not flowed from the Korean coastal area, formed by inflow from an offshore. The low-salinity water in the central area of the Yellow Sea was very uncommonly observed. It is regarded that caused by the strong wind field. the south part of the Yellow Sea, and sometimes gives a huge damage to fisheries resources of coastal areas.
