Abstract
KIOST launched design study for the 2nd phase of Argo program in 2013. A new start of deployment of bio Argo float as a test experiment, as well as the normal floats, has been examined, in the Antarctic Ocean and the East Sea. The annual deployment plan of 25 and 33 Argo floats was proposed in the planning study. The possibility of deploying deep Argo at the warm pool area was also was studied since continuous warming takes place in the area and deep Argo float, if available in market, could be a useful tool to monitor long-term variation in the region by deep Argo float in the depth of 4,000m or so, which is also located in the route of the RV of Araon to the Antarctic Base operated by Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI).ployment plan of 25 and 33 Argo floats was proposed in the planning study.
